Working alongside friend and web design colleague Iain Hamilton I created a short video clip that was to be an eyecatching feature for the homepage of Spectrum Properties. Iain had created the site and needed a graphic made to fit a portion of the homepage. It was to promote their summer office sale and to grab the attention of visitors. Iain suggested the building-themed flyover idea with structures rising from the ground and I elaborated on it from there.
The camera follows an irregular path around a block of buildings which rise up from the ground. The final building displays a banner with the Summer Office Sale headline. All buildings and details were made using box modelling techniques. The distant buildings were added using a plane combined with the greeble modifier. Lighting was set up using a daylight system with haze-driven sky. Finally the banner movement was pre-rendered using 3DSMax's reactor cloth modifier.
To see the video in action, click the player to the right or visit the Spectrum Properties homepage. Also feel free to visit Iain's web design portfolio here.
